Kind of. In a swap agreement, no shares actually need to be bought or sold into the market. It is simply a bet on the exposure of a number of shares, long or short.
What about when bank A can’t no longer own certain asset on their balance sheet for whatever reason and lease those asset onto bank B balance sheet through Total Return Swaps? I don’t think TRS is just like side bets with no ownership of underlying assets involved. Might differ case to case.
It is a side bet with no underlying, but if the prime broker doesn’t open an equal position in the underlying, they accept all the risk of the trade of it goes sideways. They would never take that risk, so it is always hedged with underlying or a derivative of the underlying.
So how would this matter/play out? CS is already fucked, they just become more visibly fucked? As discussed in the other post you're countering, when CS enters the swap agreement with Archegos, they're going to short the stock as well(hedge), but may do so "internally"(not entirely sure what this means practically).

There is a reason why UBS is trying desperately to back out of the deal. It is a game of toxic asset 'hot potato'

That is called counterparty risk. Counterparty risk is one of the most dangerous things to the global economy. It is so dangerous that the Swiss government was forcing UBS to take over Credit Suisse.
I received one and looked at the list of accounts which also got the NFTs. The only thing we all seem to have in common is that we have all SOLD GMERICA 1 NFTs. The vast majority of accounts I checked were scalpers who purchased as many as they could then sold them all off. GameStop put a 10% royalty on the NFTs so they want them to change hands! Why would they give out Free NFTS to people who will just hold onto them? They need movement in the marketplace.
To be fair, I also have more cash on hand than Silicon Valley and Signature Banks combined.

Enjoyed your last post regarding this. What’s your take on the USB now in possession of the swaps. Do they now have to be forced closed, renew or will they try to slowly wind down this toxic dump over a period of time?
If they need to close out of massive short positions, especially if they are mostly small/mid-cap stocks, the prices could escalate very quickly and the losses could shoot up into the tens to hundreds of billions quite quickly.
Citadel Advisors is not Citadel Securities. I am sure they were actually extremely profitable since I took a peek at their 13F. They are net short on the S&P and Russell 2000, while being long QQQ and other mega cap stocks like Apple, Tesla, Amazon etc. if you take all that into account, they had amazing returns from their bearish spy and iwm put positions as well as others. Citadel Securities is likely holding all the naked positions with no way to close them out.

Not really. If you lose the bet, all the LRCs you bet turn into USDC or eth or whatever you bet against at the price you bet on. Basically, you only lose out on any gains.

No new money was created. The banks must pay back the loan and they get their collateral back. The banks need the loan because people want their deposits. Deposits they already had. Question: now that the price is sub 1$, can more shares be diluted, or does it only happen over 1$? If it is the latter, I would imagine short sellers would want to cover shares Monday/Tuesday then re-enter at a higher price only to repeat that cycle until reverse split.

I just read the prospectus a bit more and there is a clause called "price failure" which is the 20 day VWAP line. If the vwap ever falls below the price failure threshold, BBBY will not be able to force convertible note holders to exercise the warrants.

Just astounding. Am I looking at the highest of 849 million short value? Also theory is that these would be forced close outs if no counterparty could be found. Have you heard the same?
That is just one instance of a short position entry. As far as I can tell, these are all cumulative
