  1. Does Strahd know they are going to the Amber Temple? Would he interfere in that?

  2. The animal accompaniment was adorable too!

  3. I'm not sure about the quinine, but one reason Africans had/have a better chance of surviving malaria was due to Sickle Cell Anemia which is a heredity blood disease. People with sickle cell have red blood cells that look cresent moon shaped (sickle shaped). The malaria parasite has a harder time invading the distorted red blood cells over normal red blood cells.

  4. No you're right! It was a balance between the sickle cell and malaria making you sick.

  5. A journal once told me that I needed a paragraph to define a basic concept in my field. My PIs response was "Readers of any reputable journal understand this concept."

  6. I would use it to prevent retreat rather than a defensive maneuver between the party and mob. I would be annoyed as a Barbarian if I had to walk through that tbh.

  7. If you need it, acetonitrile is really expensive right now

  8. I'm in toxicology and don't know much about professional molecular biology opportunities.

  9. The Z-man himself will likely take a dim view of some mortal messing with the power structures of Barovia. 🤷‍♂️

  10. It might be different enough that he finds it amusing

  11. My error. Thanks for the correction, and time to watch the trilogy again during the Christmas break.

  12. Dementia is caused by damage to the brain or nervous system (neurodegenerative). It's a term that also encompasses many other more specific neurodegenerative diseases like alzheimers, frontotemporal dementia, vascular dementia, huntingtons, parkinsons, lewy body, etc.

  13. My last char who died messed with stradh in his castle. We were invited to his castle and my char believed that silver spoons could hurt him.

  14. Well that’s just one corner case prepublished adventure where the characters need to be higher level to even be successful in the first place. Not really much of a solution in any other case.

  15. Ok, the players enter at low level and it's a good way for a higher level big bad to mess with them without full on wiping the party out. It's possible to have high level big bads in other campaigns 🥳 generally your players won't actually go defeat them until they are higher level anyway.

  16. Oh, okay if you’re using these spells as the DM for the baddie? Then just whatever you want to do. These spells read as they read RAW for baddies or heroes.

  17. It works in combo RAW. You do what you want.

  18. If I wanna know if the oil is hot, don't out your finger in it. Put a bit of food in it instead.

  19. You can use the end of a wooden utensil to test oil. If it fizzles, the oil is ready.

  20. Generally never be the first to try street drugs from a new source. Always have some one stupider than you do so.

  21. Players paying attention on their turns speeds things up exponentially.

  22. For now the Tome is in possession of burgomaster although I think my players intend to go back there but first they will visit Fiona Wachter. There I plan to give them NPC that is her spy (not Ernst) which will be played by someone who joins us for one session.

  23. The intro to his tome makes it pretty obvious that it belongs to Strahd. The burgomaster might want to dispose of it in a burn out the devil festival where they burn the vamp spawn bodies and the book is the main burning attraction. Now they have to rescue it.

  24. Okay so basically if I would say through the guards that the ally of the Devil has been captured with a book talking about the Devil then actually Strahd can know about the Tome...

  25. Maybe just have the burning and the Burgomaster brings it out in front of the party and they have to get it on the spot. You could definitely allude to it too to give the players options.

  26. The mean is the average of your set of data. Each data point in a set has a small difference or deviation between it and the mean. The standard deviation is the average of these small differences. It helps tell you how precise or tightly clustered your data is around the mean with a small value being more precise than a large one.

  27. Set them against each other. Allow one or two to leave but the rest must remain. Plant seeds of doubt that one player is secretly working for Strahd.

  28. There's a guy laying on the sidewalk somewhere who has a note in his pocket. It's a convo begging trauma team to come get him but the subscription has expired.
