I know how exhausting it is. It's so hard to stay awake. I use a boppy feeding pillow and I'd have my son cradled on it when feeding. I'd drifted off the odd time for maximum 20 mins, but because he was cradled in to the pillow and I had pulled the duvet off me he was fine. Set a timer on your phone as soon as you start feeding in the middle of the night to wake you up if you do drift off. I personally wouldn't recommend side laying/feeding during the night as it is so risky, especially for newborns. Also, Maybe your husband should be waking with you during feeds too so there is an extra pair of eyes? If baby were bottle fed, he would have to contribute to night feeds anyway, it's only fair he shares the responsibility during the night. Baby is fine mama. Don't dwell on it, just make a few adjustments to put your mind at ease. ♥️
Also, obviously up to you, but if you're planning on introducing bottles, it may be a good idea to start soon. I left it to about 6 weeks to introduce, my baby refused them for a full year. So I EBF'd and got absolutely no breaks or time away for myself. It did get easier, but you deserve a break!
