So could Real Estate in AZ with their water situation.
No it can't because land is a limited asset on this planet. And we have the technology to put a desalination plant so we can draw water from the ocean and make it drinkable.
While I agree Real Estate is likely not to go zero, but actuaries are raising insurance premiums exceedingly high that owning in some places isn't worth it. The Southwest is effed, desalination may work, but no one wants to store the salt slurry and you can't put it back in waterways as it is a huge pollutant.
Why keep a salt slurry? Clean up the salt and dry it up and sell it to consumers it straight from the ocean. And the energy for the desalination plant can come from sunshine which Arizona is full of. Or use nuclear power which we have more than a few millions years through fission and breakthroughs in fusion are happening now.
