One of the main goals with me being in the sim and in FDraft is to share my theories that I’ve developed over six months. And those theories have been spreading! The stuff theory especially, but my theory of contact quality hasn’t spread as much. So here it is.
Idk how you watch ShaneMac last season, Framber all season and in the playoffs, Pete Alonso knock another 40 home runs and take any catcher without an elite bat. I am willing to bet a number of these specially selected voters are the type to just sort by war and vote that way
Side note, I’ve really enjoyed your write ups thus far. Not just the analysis (especially regarding pitching mechanics), but also your prose and the voice throughout your writing. Just wanted to give u props
Looks like a number of trades with Oakland, did you know their owner going into the sim? Would any of those trades get you excited once you put your A's hat back on?
But mind games are part of the chess after all 2 humans playing a game so the human part is deffinetly there somewhere. Like if you sit down against Magnus there is a mind game inside you what sounds like this: "oh he is magnus im going to lose"

i do not care if he got lucky or whatever, you don't get this quality of arm in fa for 3m. the only reason i was able to do this was that tbd just disappeared and i said that bass had a co for 3. i think he's realistically worth 6
This is way too god damn low, and I hate that it's going unnoticed. This is a man who had a 1.54 ERA and a 3.00 FIP in 70.1 innings. You might say "oh he has only 2.3 war in his career and he's 35 i'm a stupid idiot" but do you think that actually matters here? We've given money to stupider things before than this. I don't even need to look that far to say that this is low. Trevor May is really good, but he had a 5 ERA last year. He got 1/5. If Anthony Bass was a normal free agent and not a free agent whose option got forgotten, then he would have gotten 2/14. That is the amazing thing. I didn't need to pull out my imaginary stats or my pitch data to show that this is way too little.
Ever since this most recent draft, I've been getting into draft boards. Draft boards are great for 2 reasons: 1) you can find really good players, and 2) you have a lot more data and information about the players just coming out of college or high school. You're not going to find exit velo or pitch data data for a random minor leaguer, but if you go to the right school and ask the right people, you can get college and draft data. In 2021, Khalil Watson was projected by many as the best player in the draft. He had a sweet swing that allowed maximum power of his 5'9" frame. He had good swing decisions, decent defense, and was overall a good player.
Kyle Harrison
James Wood
if you know, you know
Framber Valdez
this curveball is confusing as frick
Juo and I select: Yordan Alvarez

The difference between the write up for X and Bregman vs Will Smith is really jarring when they're right next to each other.
woops sorry for writing too much, entirely my bad because I wanted to write really long justifications

This list has been idiotically generous to rookies and sophomore players who sucked in their first season.
Damn I wish I did my participatory democratic duty and submitted a list because some of these rankings stink
Merill kelly is next right guys? 😔
LOVE YOU MERRILL KELLY
Probably referring to bWAR.

YEA FRAK

frak I summon thee
I’m guessing the simulation might not have the recent blowup of FA market prices accounted for.
Yea, FAs signed for a good 25% less than irl (iirc for smaller signings)

Still, if you're contemplating quitting chess because of the chat and you can turn off the chat, turn off the chat.

yeah he definitely got lucky but even then was still a quality arm, this is a good bargain buy

Lauer feels like a great pickup for Atlanta. Legitimately had a mini breakout this year.

Justin Wilson
Justin Wilson had TJ in June. Why?
You're reserving him for 2024. It's smart if you have the payroll space
Is he really worth 4.5M?
