What is your most controversial music opinion?

  1. I can’t stand it when Ariana Grande doesn’t enunciate in a song. Half the time I can’t understand what she’s saying.

  2. Country music is actually good. I'm not talking about the modern "I fucked my tractor and was hungover in the doghouse" pop country. I'm talking about the original stuff that still has that bluegrass and American folk song feel to it. Like Jerry Reed, a lot of Johnny cash, stuff like that.

  3. "My Sacrifice" hit me hard as a kid when I heard it for the first time. I'm not ashamed to say it, 12yo me sobbed like a bitch.

  4. I still listen to "What If" from time to time. That guitar riff in the 2nd half of the song (during the "what if, what if, what if I")....so heavy, gets me fired up every time

  5. I 1000% agree with you I can't even tell you the amount of times that as a black person I've been called white washed just because I listen to classical music. It is an absolute bop!

  6. Depeche mode have an important place as an influence in the modern synth and futurepop scene but they don't sound as good as a lot of other bands.

  7. Idunno man, Bob Seger got an awful lot of juice out of his squeeze. Those guys both had stadiums full of fans. Did you meant Pete Seeger maybe?

  8. I have similar thoughts on John Mellencamp. He was huge for a significant time, and has a similar working class hero vibe. I’m not a huge fan, but I wonder why things changed for him. Maybe a more knowledgeable person can fill in the blanks for me.

  9. you’re allowed to admit that your favorite artist/group has a bad song. it’s not the end of the world and it doesn’t mean you’re not a hardcore fan anymore.

  10. Most new pop and rap music are all the same beat, just slightly different timing. Once you separate the channels, they are all the same. People dont actually like the music, they like the beat.

  11. And the omni-beat fucking suuuucks. The combination of cheap-sounding, artless trap beats with layers of overproduced club and pop dross spooged all over it by a circlejerk of talentless producers clamoring for a taste of the underserved fame enjoyed by legendary hacks Timbaland and Pharrell.

  12. Furthermore, some of Weird Al's best songs aren't even his parodies; they're completely original songs.

  13. I have no interest in film soundtracks but I adored video game music until I got into hip hop in my early teens, and it still holds a special place in my heart. Any particular favourites?

  14. Rock is not dead, there are great artists producing great music right now. MUNA, Amber Mark, DEHD, Maggie Rogers, I could go on and on.

  15. Metallica, after Master of Puppets, was no longer a metal band and sucked progressively more each album. Spotify should only have 3 Metallica albums available, because everything else is terrible.

  16. American Idol and similar shows ruined creativity in the music industry. Lots of good talent out there, but I haven't heard any good SONGS lately.

  17. I once got a lot of hate for saying I don't care for contemporary Christian music. I've nothing against your religion, you just need to hire better composers as Praise and Worship gives me a headache. Let's see how much hate I get this time.

  18. Clutch is the best band still regularly playing and touring, and Coheed and Cambria is a close second

  19. Autotune is cool, because it allows singing to exist in music where it otherwise wouldn't, and that's enriching.

  20. Certainly agree with you on Queen. They're a band I like but they're definitely overrated. While they have plenty of good songs and The Game and Opera are pretty good albums, they also have lots of crappy songs and filler.

  21. Can't speak for queen but the Beatles were a pop band. John and Paul openly expressed that. In their anthology doc Paul said at one point him and John were in competition to see who could write the more poppier song.

  22. Kpop can be more musically interesting and good than a lot of mainstream western stuff, in spite of the heavily processed nature of the main conceit (the idols).

  23. I just don’t like it at all. Most of the songs are full of indecipherable and repetitive lyrics, the background instrumentals are all just annoying computer generated sounds, and the people who are in K pop groups try to be really flashy and mainstream, and I despise when people do that

  24. I seriously hate Tina Turner. Doesn't matter which song it is, I will get physically angry when it's playing and I don't know why. Either I turned radio off or rip out the stereo system in the car, I can not fucking stand it

  25. No music beats silence. And I really do enjoy music, just not so much that I would need it to function. Also, not listening to any music for a week or two makes the next time you do much, much more enjoyable.

  26. I find The Beatles so very boring and harmless, can't get through a single one. I do understand their influence on Pop music and all but I feel so stuck-up when I put on 'Love me Do".

  27. country music>>> what most ppl my age like to listen to (i like most music unless it sounds gross but I LOVE COUNTRY MUSIC😩😩) my boyfriend hates country but he lets me put it on if im rlly sad or scared cause im scared of hills when were driving

  28. there are very few people who have learned to sing all of the people who can "sing" now were born with a voice for singing from what it sounds like never truly learned how to control it they might of been in a choir or a band as a kid but that wouldn't help them to control your voice

  29. If a person that made the music did something bad or wrong, you shouldn’t have to stop listening to them. It doesnt affect you. You didn’t do it.

  30. Rock and metal are not objectively better or more "authentic" than other genres, and how hard a piece of music is to play has nothing to do with how good it is.

  31. Yes same. I sometimes have such a hard time explaining this to people. I also don't have very strong opinions on weither music is good or bad. My rating range is usually 4-6.5, 4 being "eh a bit boring" and 6.5 being "pretty good I guess". I can't really see it when people complain about a certain song or a band being terrible.

  32. I feel the same way. There are friends and family members I have who live music and just don't get that I could exist in total silence, or that I would rather road trip with an audiobook over music.

  33. A lot of big, popular rock/metal bands are not actually that good and are put on pedestals for reasons I don't understand. Guns N Roses for example, what is up with having solo slots for every instrument in the band, no one cares, it's just pretentious. Aerosmith, AC/DC, Megadeth, Ozzy, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins all make average music in my opinion, just got elevated to these legend like status' for some reason.

  34. The fact that a piece of music is written, produced and performed by the same person doesn't make it inherently better or 'more authentic' than other music.

  35. 90% of popular music lyrics are hot garbage. They are generic, repetitive, and talk about the exact same thing, be it romance, sex, or crime.

  36. Insane Clown Posse is pretty good. They’re stuff is kinda cheesy, and I’m not a fan of the religious stuff, but it’s a guilty pleasure and the two clowns are genuinely nice guys.

  37. It is ok to lip sync if you perform well. I don’t mind if artist like Britney Spears, Madonna, lady Gaga, etc lip sync because they all have a good reason and are amazing performers. Dancing is a talent and if you can do it well I don’t mind if you lip sync.

  38. Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd are fine. They’re just this decade’s bands that are cool because the kids’ parents listened to them, like the Beatles 10 years ago. 10 years from now it’s going to be some 80s band that is at the top of every
