The Truman Show for criterion?

  1. I agree. Dumb and dumber is one of the funniest movies ever made. Criterion needs more comedies. Make it happen.

  2. I mean there are already multiple films from Peter Weir, so it's not as far-fetched as you may think. He's become one of my favorite directors over the years, so I'd love to see more of his films get a nice boutique release.

  3. I wouldn’t mind it. I think it and Pleasantville are two movies that have similar ideas that have held up pretty well, although both also have their shortcomings

  4. it's a very mainstream movie with only a slightly challenging theme. Had about 20 other actors played Truman the movie instantly becomes much better. The premise is great. But visually it's okay. As for supplements? I dont know what exactly Criterion would curate with this movie that would get very many people thrilled.

  5. OK, just because it isn't an obscure Tarkovsky-esque film doesn't mean it's too mainstream for a criterion release. Maybe if we were talking about a Marvel film, you might have a point.

  6. The Princess Bride? The Breakfast Club? Fast Times at Ridgemont High? Dazed and Confused? Wall•E? Being niche isn’t a requirement for Criterion.

  7. If you want it then absolutely but I'd be lying if I said I'd be upset if every copy of the movie got destroyed
