Got some of this for the first time today. $80. Can’t say in the biggest fan of the juice, but man that bottle beautiful.

  1. I like to sip Hibiki in the place of saké whenever I’m eating sushi at home. It’s low proof and floral enough to compliment the sushi quite nicely imo.

  2. Ooh, that actually sounds nice. I think I’ll have some sushi this weekend and try this with it. Thanks for the suggestion!

  3. Yeah I’m happy I finally got to try it! Like I said I can’t say it the best bottle in that price range, but that glass was drained pretty quickly, lol

  4. Shoot really? I just passed on a bottle today for around that. I’m relatively new to Japanese whisky though, only having gotten a bottle of Nikka.

  5. I had the same idea, it’s around €105 around me right now. Picked it up for €60 a while back and my first pour I was a bit mehh about it. I went back to it last week and really enjoy it as my first pour of the evening. I think around €60 is a good price for it but the hype on Japanese whiskeys is insane.

  6. Interested in why you're not a fan. It's one of the smoothest whiskies I've tried and I'm definitely a fan. I gave a pour to a friend who is new to liquor and he actually liked it. What would you say you prefer drinking?

  7. Oh don’t get me wrong, it’s good for sure. I agree it’s very smooth. But I do think there are quite a few other bottles I like much better once we get into the $80 range. My palate also seems to prefer higher proof whiskeys so that might be another reason I’m not the biggest fan of this one in particular. I definitely do not regret the purchase though.

  8. Honestly, I prefer it to johnnie walker blue. For that reason I usually can justify the price if i'm feeling fancy. The bottle is killer too.

  9. I agree 100%, the juice is worth 55 bucks to me, maybe 5-10 bucks for the bottle itself. Would not pay more than 65 for it ever again. 65 bucks has a long list of other better choices, and this one is mix of grain and malt.
